I can’t find my computer glasses so will just post the notes I gathered the recipe in. Here we go: Melt over medium-high heat: Sauté: Add-in: Bring to boil. Stir-in: Return to boil. Turn to medium. Cover with lid cook. Cook 45 minutes or until peas are soft. If soupy, cook 15 minutes with lid… Continue reading Hattie’s Hoppin’ John
This stew is modified from a recipe originally printed in Gourmet in 1954. You can use any protein, though lamb is traditional. I usually do beef. I also only know how to make it BIG. It is worth it. Serve with rice, couscous, or your other favorite substrate. Freeze the rest for later. You will thank me.
After yet another long term plateau that led me to reevaluate my eating, I decided to make a three-pronged attack: Adjust portion size – I was eating too much and knew it. I have baggage from a feast or famine approach to food when I was growing up, and I can find myself getting competitive… Continue reading The Life Changing Chaffle
[From winter, my app has not been posting. Just saving drafts.] I have recently been experimenting with having meals delivered to my home. Friends on the West Coast were raving about #blueapron and I wanted to try it, but they were not delivering to Texas at the time. Upon hearing my lament, a friend gave… Continue reading Home Delivered Foods

Plus, then I will be able to find the recipe again. Yay! The aforementioned PALEO CRACKER recipe: Garlic Crackers (Basics, Paleo,… Continue reading Paleo Cracker and Chicken Liver Pâté
My honey grows okra in the backyard, which I adore. It means, however, that we are bringing in five or so pods per day or two once the season begins. For his birthday, I made a gumbo which I do not document for posterity, but may repeat in the future. Bhibdi Masala is definitely in… Continue reading Oven-Fried Okra is B.S. Deep Fry it!
Anyone who knows me knows I am not much of a drinker. I think that people have a hard time controlling themselves when they drink and easily become a-holes and I do not want to be that person. That said, I love a cocktail and I might have one while out before switching to a… Continue reading The Cocktails of Inspiration
I love Pierogies. Like seriously. You can stuff them with many delectable fillings, but my favorite is cheddar and potato. I don’t bother putting onion inside them because I am going to top them with sautéed onions and sour cream. Both are traditional toppings and I cannot choose between them, so I don’t choose. Problem… Continue reading Paleo or Quick Pierogies
